The Clarkston Culture Fest has been an incredible development, sparked in the imaginations of a few people for a community festival, growing to what it is today, an immense celebration of CULTURE. Since Clarkston, Georgia, located in the center of DeKalb County, is one of the most culturally diverse communities you’ll ever find, it is a perfect display of what ‘culture’ truly is.
The festival highlights the differences that exist between us while celebrating our ability to live amongst each other. The idea of ‘culture’ is demonstrated much deeper at the current festival than it was at its inception, expanding our view of culture to include art, music, food, sports, fashion, and even cars, complementing the numerous international and local cultures we display yearly in our Culture Village.
The Festival Planning Committee is dedicated to grow the festival in this way and that we are able to educate, appreciate, and celebrate every human’s unique qualities.
Festival Features:
THE STAGE (Hosted by the City of Clarkston):
Throughout the event, performances from Clarkston and surrounding area musicians and artists (both professional and amateur) portray the cultural diversity of Clarkston, delight the audience with beautiful artistry, and encourage audience participation and engagement.
CULTURE VILLAGE:
A highlight of our festival each year are the “booths” highlighting a different culture that is represented in Clarkston and DeKalb County. Each booth will be operated by an individual or group who will educate the festival goers about the language, culture traditions, artifacts, and dress of his/her culture, and will provide opportunity for interaction and inquisitive minds.
FUN ZONE (Hosted by City Hope Community):
Geared toward the younger generation (kids), but open to “young at heart”, this area provides activities such as: Face/nail painting, Henna, Hair braiding, Inflatable bouncy games, Photo ops, sports games, and Children carnival games. FREE treats for kids of all ages!!!
VENDORS MARKET:
Entrepreneurs will sell their family friendly goods and services, encouraging people to support local businesses and startups. Local organizations also display important information for citizen awareness and education.
FOOD TRUCK ALLEY:
Get your eats on here in our food truck area. Find a variety of culinary choices.
CUISINE CORNER:
Vendors will sell food and drink for the people to delight in an array of delectable treats…some healthy, and others not so much.;)
CLASSIC CAR SHOW (Presented by Positive Growth, Inc.):
A relative new addition to the festival (since 2018), representing a unique culture of car enthusiasts! The classic car show has been a hit for festival goers with some amazing rides to see.
SHUTTLE TERMINALS:
People who park in designated parking areas further away from the festival activities will be shuttled to/from the festival in continuously running shuttles.
